Hosting First Marketing Club Event

I hosted my first-ever Marketing Club event, and honestly, I’m so proud of how it turned out.

This idea started way back in Spring Quarter, when I was running for Marketing Consultant. I kept thinking about how many of us in marketing work so hard on projects, case studies, designs, and internships… but we don’t always know how to show that work. With how competitive the job market is, our classes don’t always give us everything we need to stand out, especially when it comes to building a strong portfolio.

I wanted to create something that would actually help students feel confident putting themselves out there. Something practical. Something community-driven. And something I wish I had earlier in my college journey.

As a senior now, it felt meaningful to bring together resources, examples, and people from my own network, including former Marketing Club officers who inspired me to become an officer myself, and even students from UW Seattle who were willing to support since it’s peak internship season. That meant the world to me.

After weeks of planning, drafting content, booking rooms, meeting with my team, and collaborating with our Red Bull Marketeer, the Marketing Portfolio Workshop officially came to life.

A marketing portfolio is more than a collection of projects, it’s a way for us as students to show our skills, our creativity, our story, and the work we put in week after week, even when we don’t have years of job experience yet. Being able to help others build that foundation is something I’m genuinely proud of.

Huge thank you to our amazing guest speakers who shared their insights and answered every question with so much honesty and care:
Siqi Zheng , Xiya Zheng, Bojo Ocampo, and Maansi S.

And of course, thank you to my officer team for believing in this idea and helping me bring it to life. This was the perfect way to kick off Marketing Club after being officially recognized this year.

More events coming soon, but this first one will always be special.
